Eye/Hand, an exhibit featuring fine art prints by Judith Long and photographs by Burke Long, opens on March 7 at the Tao Yuan Restaurant, 22 Pleasant Street, in Brunswick. Curated by Joan Carney, the works will be on display through April 30.

Joan Carney assembled six distinctive groups consisting of hand pulled prints (etchings, monotypes and collagraphs), and digital photographs which, when displayed together, suggest open-ended interactions between the eye of the photographer and the printmaker’s finely honed craft. Coordinated according to theme, texture and color, the subjects include abstract landscapes, etched glass, pressed weeds, oxidized metal, lighter than air stone and flying buttresses.

A photographer and printmaker, Judith Long is a founding member of Points of View Artists. She is a member of Harlow Gallery in Hallowell and Circling the Square Fine Arts Press in Gardiner. She regularly presents her work in Maine, including UMA’s Danforth Gallery, the Harlow Gallery, Gallery Framing, and the Maine Photography Show in Boothbay Harbor. Her work is currently included in a collaborative exhibition organized by Circling the Square Fine Art Press and the Estampería Quiteña of Quito, Ecuador, which travels to five Maine gallery venues during 2016.

Burke Long studied photography at MECA, and has exhibited his works in the Maine Photography Show, Joy of the Lens in Topsham, Maine College of Art, Harlow Gallery, and the Holocaust and Human Rights Center in Augusta.  In 2014, Gallery Framing in Brunswick hosted a solo exhibition, “Questioning Surface Appearances”. He and his photographs were featured in the October 2014 issue of the Bowdoin Magazine.
