Pennellville was settled in 1760 by Thomas Pennell II who founded the family’s shipbuilding company with his sons.  Their company, known as "Pennell Brothers," was located at the end of Pennellville Road and was one of the most successful shipbuilding companies in America through the 19th century.  From 1760 to 1874, the Pennell family would build in excess of 90 ships in Pennellville.  Known for building “tall ships”, the Pennell’s also built several family homes that still remain to provide a glimpse into the world of the 1700’s and 1800’s of Maine.

Pennellville Impressions celebrates the scenery of this beautiful local community.  Points of View Artists, led by Pennellville resident and POV artist Tim Banks, present their interpretations of these timeless vistas.  Pennellville’s  seascapes, homes, and meadows provide inspiration for artwork covering a variety of topics and media.  Come celebrate one of Brunswick’s most important legacies.  Pennellville Impressions will be on display from September 6th through October.

Join us for the artists’ reception:  Friday, September 9, from 5 to 8 pm.
