Season of Promise

Monday, September 7, 2020 to Friday, October 30, 2020

After a summer of virtual art shows and limited socializing, Points of View Artists are looking forward to new beginnings and fresh perspectives in hopes that the pandemic will loosen its grip.  Work in this show represents some of the joys of summer, the vibrancy of color, and the inspiration behind the artists’ creativity.

The Interloper

Judith Long

Monotype print

Image 12” x 12"; framed 19 x 19";  $300 This monotype is inspired by the spring return of thousands of alewives that swim up the fish ladders in Damariscotta Mills to spawn in the lake. It was  created with multiple stencils and use of split fountain inking to create several colored fish.  The Interloper was offered a stencil and ink color of  his own.

P. bipinnatifidium

Judith Long

Fused monoprint, collaged elements and monotype print

Image 18" H x 24" W; framed 23" H x 29" W; $500

This three-layered print started as a monoprint from my Ogiko series that featured a full plate stencil of Japanese Chrysanthemums.  Feeling this particular print was unfinished, the large tree philodendron leaves were cut from the back of a rejected screen print and collaged onto the monoprint.  Still feeling unfinished, a third layer, a recycled monotype printed on both sides of Kozo thin Asian paper, was heat fused onto the other two layers. It feels finished now.

Mother and Child

Jackie Melissas

glazed ceramic, $700/pair
